The wife of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, Omowunmi Aloba, has once again addressed the controversy surrounding the paternity of their son, Liam.
In a recent interview with TVC News, Wunmi lamented over the constant bullying and online harassment she has endured since the tragic passing of her husband.
Wunmi revealed that she is the “most bullied widow in Nigeria presently”, as she continues to face backlash over demands for a DNA test to confirm her son’s paternity.
Ever since Mohbad’s untimely death on September 12, 2023, there have been numerous calls from fans and critics alike, insisting that she must prove that Liam is truly the singer’s child.
In her emotional statement, Wunmi did not explicitly confirm whether or not the DNA test had been conducted. She revealed that her father-in-law, Joseph Aloba, was once her close companion and source of support before her husband’s passing. However, following Mohbad’s demise, he began demanding a DNA test.
According to Wunmi, Joseph Aloba initially claimed that the test was necessary because Nigerians were insisting on it. Later, he reportedly stated that Mohbad’s friend, who had an altercation with the late singer at a show, informed him that Mohbad had only been intimate with her once.
Wunmi further alleged that her father-in-law had successfully convinced Nigerians that the DNA issue was linked to her husband’s death, stating that many people were allowing their emotions to cloud their judgment. She also accused him of labeling her as promiscuous despite his past involvement in her efforts to conceive.
She claimed that Joseph Aloba took her to different prayer mountains, provided her with various items to eat and drink, and even fasted with her and Mohbad for seven days in a bid for her to conceive. According to her, he was deeply invested in ensuring she had a child but after Mohbad’s death, he demanded for Liam’s patermity.
In her words, “I am the most bull!ed widow in Nigeria right now. My father in law was my friend and my right hand before my husband passed but after his death, he started talking about DNA. At first, he said it was because Nigerians wanted it. Later, he said my husband’s friend who fought with him at the show told him my husband only had sx with me once.”
“He has successfully convinced Nigerians now that DNA was linked to my husband’s demise and Nigerians think with their emotions. He said I was promiscuous whereas he was the one taking me to different mountains to pray, giving me stuff to eat and drink so I could get pregnant. He was the one that wanted this baby. He fasted with me and my husband for 7 days so I could get pregnant.”
