Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has shared a troubling encounter with a married woman who repeatedly insisted that God revealed he was her husband.
Speaking during the special Victory Hour programme on Wednesday, February 19, Adeboye recounted how the woman, a senior official at the West African Examinations Council and a mother, unexpectedly visited his office years ago.
“There was a particular woman years ago, she woke up one day and came to my office and told me, ‘God said you are my husband.’ I told her I was married and I am a pastor. She herself was married, a big woman working with WAEC. One of her sons is a bank manager in Ota. From her looks, she might even be older than I am,” he recounted.
Adeboye said he reported the woman to the Nigerian Police and requested that her husband be informed of the incident, but she refused to back down.
“We sent for her husband, she didn’t change. We brought the matter to the Police DPO, who asked her to stop coming to the camp. She did not change. She said, ‘You are joking.’”
The woman went further to threaten Pastor Adeboye’s wife, saying she would k!ll her if she did not allow her to marry him.
“She told my wife, ‘If you don’t allow me to marry him, I w!ll kill you.’”
Adeboye recounted that while in London preparing the Sunday School manual, without informing anyone of his trip, he received a call from the same woman.
“Then one day, I went to London to prepare the Sunday School pamphlets. I never told anyone I was coming. I wanted to do the work quietly. As soon as I got to the house in London, the phone rang—it was in the days of landlines. When I picked the phone, she said, ‘Welcome. I have been waiting for you. You will see me soon. I’m at the next bus stop’,” he added.
Adeboye, alarmed by the situation, immediately threatened her with police action if she attempted to visit him.
“I had to threaten her that, ‘You know this is London. If you come here, I will call the police. Police here can’t be settled like the police in Nigeria,” the pastor further recounted.”
He revealing that after he prayed, he later heard that the woman had d!ed.
“I prayed a single prayer. I don’t know how it happened, but they brought her dead body back to Nigeria.
