Nigerian women have called on President Tinubu to address the economic crisis, stressing that rising financial burdens are making it harder for men to afford bride price and get married.

Their concerns were shared in a post on X (formerly Twitter), where they also highlighted issues such as insecurity, soaring fuel prices, and other economic challenges affecting daily life.

One woman voiced her frustration, emphasizing how difficult it has become to make ends meet. She noted that many men can no longer afford to marry due to the financial strain of paying bride price.

Her statement read: “When you’re quiet, it may seem like you’re fine, but we’re suffering in silence. We need change. We’re tired; please do something.”

She continued, “No place is safe anymore—you could be kidnapped in your own home. How can a liter of fuel cost #1,000? I feel for taxi drivers, Bolt, and Indrive operators—it’s tough for them.

The woman also lamented the rising cost of living, stating, “I can’t believe I’m paying #2,500 for ‘mama put.’ How can I afford a plate of food for #2,500? We’re exhausted. Even women aren’t getting married anymore because men can’t afford to pay the bride price.”

The post quickly went viral, sparking a wave of reactions as many users flooded the comment section to share their opinions.
