The Internet space is buzzing with excitement as renowned African music icon, Angelique Kidjo, has officially submitted her song “Joy” featuring Nigerian superstar Davido for consideration in two categories at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

The Beninese five-time Grammy winner made this announcement on Saturday October 5 via a post on her verified social media account.

The song was submitted for Best African Music Performance and Record of the Year, while another of her tracks, Sunlight to My Soul,’ featuring the Soweto Gospel Choir and written by Diane Warren, was submitted for Best Global Music Performance and Song of the Year categories.

‘Joy’ featuring Davido was released on Friday, 30 August 2024, as the second collaboration between the two artists, who had previously worked together on another hit song, ‘Na Money’, released in 2023.

The song, which blends Angelique Kidjo’s signature Afrobeat sound with Davido’s vibrant Afropop style, has been making waves across music streaming platforms since its release.
