Superstar Afrobeats sensation David Adeleke professionally known as Davido has declared that he is from Atlanta, Georgia in the United States of America (USA) after being dragged by many for saying that Nigeria’s economy is in shambles.
Davido who participated in the 2024 USA presidential election that saw the re-election of Donald Trump as the president of the country made this known in a latest interview known as the “Ballers Alert Show”.
Davido recently advised Black Americans against relocating to Nigeria, pointing out the country’s ongoing economic challenges. This follows speculations that some Black Americans are considering leaving the United States after Donald Trump’s electoral victory, due to concerns over potential unfavorable policies.
During an appearance on The Big Homies Housepodcast, Davido highlighted the significant challenges Nigeria is facing, stating, “It’s not cool back home. The economy is in shambles.”
However, this development did not sit down well with many in Nigeria including veteran actor Patrick Doyle who knocks the singer for saying such to foreigners.
The actor wrote; “You have to be incredibly dense to ask foreigners not to visit a country where your father has a $2 Billion Dollar power generation investment. Some persons ought to know much better.”
In another viral video, TVC presenter, Akashat Ny’mat, knocks Davido for going on US radio programme to say Nigeria’s economy is in shambles.
In her words; “All why President Tinubu is traveling abroad to look for Investors that will pump in money into Nigeria Davido has Indirectly told them not to invest in Nigeria with his “Nigeria Economy is in Shambles comment” what has Davido and his Adeleke family done for The Osun people.”

In a recent video, Davido emphasized that he is originally from Atlanta, USA, as he was born there. However, due to his cultural ties, he identifies with Nigeria, his parents’ homeland.
Davido also mentioned that he is a proud Atlanta native, revealing that all his children were born in the same Atlanta hospital where he was born in 1992. He also said that his brothers and sisters were all born in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
