Nigerian singer and ex-presidential aspirant Speed Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been arrested in Owerri, Imo State, by police. This comes barely two months after he was released.

Fondly known as Akpi, he was recently arrested on October 4th, following the release of a controversial video in which he allegedly mocked his colleague Burna Boy, associating him with American rapper Diddy, who has faced legal issues with the FBI over charges of immoral exploitation.

Speed Darlington, known for his outspoken personality, was, however, released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in detention.

In a latest development, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, took to his X handle to make an announcement stating that Darlington was arrested again at his Owerri show after returning back to Nigeria.

Sharing a photo with Speed, he wrote, “BREAKING: Our client Speed Darlington a.k.a AKPI has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”

Although Deji did not disclose the reason for Speed’s arrest, social media users speculated that Burna Boy was behind it, expressing their opinions in the comment section. Some reactions are shown below:
