Nigerian rapper and fashion entrepreneur Zlatan Ibile has criticized colleagues who shame others for wearing fake designer items.
He stated that it’s unfair for fashion entrepreneurs to publicly mock individuals who wear replicas simply because they can’t afford the originals.
In a viral video, Zlatan Ibile said, “People wey dey buy fake, make dem dey buy am until dem get money to buy original. Person wey wear fake today, go wear original tomorrow.”
Similarly, a few months ago, Ashluxe boss Olayinka Ashogbon called out singer Lyta for wearing counterfeit designs of his clothing brand.

Wearing fake designers is a crime in some countries. There are many Nigerian made brands that are very affordable. If you think about the reason why people wear fake then you’ll understand that it’s totally unnecessary. People don’t wear fake because that is what they can afford, they wear fake because they want to feel among and live a fake life. It’s understandable for teenagers to wear fake clothes most likely bcuz they don’t know any better. But adults need to stop wearing fake designers. Even me wey I no be celebrity I no fit wear fake high fashion. 🌝.
