Funke Akindele, a celebrated Nigerian actress and filmmaker, was invited to speak at Lagos Canvas, a recent creative event, following the box office success of her movie Everybody Loves Jenifa, which has grossed ₦1.6 billion.
Notably, this isn’t her first film to surpass ₦1 billion in box office earnings—her 2023 movie, A Tribe Called Judah, also hit the milestone.
Amidst promoting her new film across Nigeria, Ghana, and beyond, Funke was asked about her content creation process and marketing strategies.
Funke Akindele shared that she is deeply immersed in social media, often falling asleep while watching content online, which helps her understand what resonates with different audiences.
As the Box Office Queen, she emphasized leveraging social media, breaking conventions, and adopting Blue Ocean Marketing. She also highlighted the importance of originality.
Additionally, Funke discussed her hands-on approach to local marketing, engaging directly with market traders and distributing high-quality merchandise like clothes among others to boost her film’s reach.
