A disgruntled customer has taken to social media to call out Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci after purchasing a bowl of pepper soup for N6,000 from her restaurant, ‘A food by Hilda’.
In a video making the rounds online, the visibly angry lady revealed how she ordered for the meal but ended up disappointed after receiving a small portion inside a small transparent takeaway.
In the video, the lady expressed her frustration, claiming that the portion size of the pepper soup did not match its price.
Showing the size of the meal in the camera, she questioned how a restaurant of Hilda Baci’s caliber could serve what she considered an “underwhelming” dish at such a high cost
According to the lady, she initially planned to boil rice to pair with the pepper soup. However, she had to abandon the idea when she saw how small the portion of the meal was.
The lady went on to advise the restaurant to improve both the quality and quantity of their meals if they intend to maintain such high prices.
In her words, “My food by Hilda, I just got back from work. I placed an order for peppersoup worth N6k and this is what they brought to me. I was already having a bad day at work and had not eaten anything since morning cos I wasn’t feeling too well and I planned on ordering something else from Hilda’s restaurant tomorrow but I was like since I’m going home, let me just order peppersoup and probably boil rice or something with it and this is what they brought to me.”
“And then when I messaged them on WhatsApp, all they had to say was like ‘Oh, this is what one portion of peppersoup looks like and that they are working on increasing the portion. If you know that you are going to work on your portion, why did you decide to experiment with my own food. I don’t understand, How much is one kilo of chicken because I don’t understand why you decide to sell this to me for N6k. Turkey Peppersoup for N6k and it’s not even hot. It looks like dog’s vomit. I am so angry.”
“If you know that this is how you are going to sell your N6k pepper soup then increase the price and increase the quantity cos I don’t get it.”

@viral_tide said, “She’s selling brand, na why GIG de charge more than others, same reason why Sheraton charges higher for the same room than others. If u know u know, so aunty rest.”
@THE_CRAFT3R said, “You did not buy ordinary pepper soup; you bought Hilda’s pepper soup She is a brand, and her name is what inflated the price. It’s no different from buying an Iphone for N3M, when there are high-end android phones that go for N800k, and can easily bench the overpriced iPhone. Brands sell names and emotions, not products or services. Always remember that.”
