John Dramani Mahama, the newly-elected president of Ghana, has seemed to swap roles with Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a blunder on Tuesday, January 7.

This happened at the inauguration of Mahama as the next President of Ghana in a colorful ceremony that took place at the Black Star Square in the country’s capital, Accra. During his inaugural speech, Mahama referred to Tinubu as Ghana’s president.

“Your excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, president of the Federal Republic of Ghana,” Mahama said while acknowledging dignitaries at the event.

Mahama, 65, who served as Ghana’s president from July 2012 to January 2017, will succeed the current President Nana Akufo-Addo. He first became president in July 2012 after the death of President John Evans Atta Mills, completing the remainder of his term before winning the 2012 election.
