Renowned Yoruba actor Lekan Olatunji recently opened out about a difficult era in his life, explaining the horrific injury that led him to briefly break away from filmmaking.

In a candid interview, Olatunji recounted the incident that left him hospitalized for three months and resulted in significant memory loss.

“There was a time I had an accident, and life was not easy for me at the time because I was admitted to the hospital for three months,” Olatunji shared. “I stopped acting movies when I had a fatal accident; my skull was showing, and I lost memory. I went through a series of surgeries because I could not remember anything, including some people who are close to me. When I was invited for a movie role in the movie industry, I was given a movie script to read, but unfortunately, after reading the script, I forgot everything I read in just a matter of minutes.”

This traumatic experience not only affected his professional life but also posed significant challenges in his personal relationships, as he struggled to recognize close acquaintances. The road to recovery was arduous, involving multiple surgeries and extensive rehabilitation to regain his cognitive functions.

Despite these challenges, Olatunji’s resilience and determination have been evident. His journey back to the film industry showcases his unwavering passion for acting and serves as an inspiration to many facing similar adversities.

In addition to his health battles, Olatunji faced personal loss with the passing of his wife in September 2023.
