Popular social media activist, Vincent Otse Martins, better known as Verydarkman (VDM) has weighed in his thoughts on the criticism surrounding Nigerian singer Davido’s recent comment on the Nigerian economy.
Davido became the center of dragging recently after he advised black Americans, particularly Nigerians, not to return home in his recent interview with The Big Homies House podcast. In his words, “Nigerian Economy is in shambles”, which did not sit well with Nigerians, including Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle, Reno Omokri, former president Buhari’s aide Busari Ahmed, APC politician Joe Igbokwe and lots more.
Many criticized the singer for discouraging foreign investments, stating that Davido’s remark about Nigeria on the podcast was disappointing.
Despite facing several criticisms, some Nigerians supported Davido, agreeing with his view that the country is discouraging and currently in a disastrous state. Among his supporters was Verydarkman, who took to his Instagram page to share a video of him criticizing those who attacked Davido for his comments.
He stated that people were quick to speak out without considering that Davido was not lying during the interview.
VDM suggested that the music star should have started by addressing the issue of insecurity in the country. He further remarked that if he were the one giving the interview, he would have claimed that Americans relocating to Nigeria could risk being kidnapped on their way home.
In his words, “Davido didn’t lie Nigeria Economy is really In shambles, Davido in your next Interview also add that their is serious Insecurity in Nigeria, so Because Davido’s dad has a Billion Dollar investment he should lie that everything in Nigeria is good, you all are lucky that CNN didn’t invite me for an Interview I would have said worst.”
