A list of the top 10 Afrobeats artistes with the highest monthly listeners on the music streaming platform Spotify has surfaced online, sparking diverse reactions.

As of November 30th, 2024, the list released by Spotify consists of 10 Nigerian musicians and surprisingly, Ayra Starr leads the list of top 10 Afrobeats artistes with the most monthly listeners on Spotify

According to the latest data released by Spotify, Ayra Starr, who is signed to the Don Jazzy Mavin Records label, tops the list of Nigerian artistes with 24.1M monthly listeners.

Ayra Starr โ€“ 24.1M Monthly Listeners

Ayra Starr ranks as the second most-streamed Nigerian female artist on Spotify, with 1.632 billion streams, driven by the success of her Grammy-nominated hit Rush, which has exceeded 378 million streams.


Rema โ€“ 21M Monthly Listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, Rema, who is signed to the Don Jazzy Mavin Records label is the second on the list of Nigerian artistes with 21M monthly listeners.

Generally, Rema boasts an impressive 3.666 billion Spotify streams, largely fueled by his record-breaking single Calm Down. Both versions of the track have surpassed 2 billion streams, with the Selena Gomez remix accounting for 1.4 billion streams.

Burnaboy โ€“ 19.3 monthly listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, is third among Nigerian artistes with 19.3 monthly listeners.

Generally, the Grammy winnerโ€™s megastar status shines through his Spotify achievements, with a staggering 6.226 billion streams. His biggest hit, Location, a collaboration with British-Nigerian rapper Dave, has amassed 545 million streams. However his biggest song as a solo artiste on Spotify is Last Last.

Tems โ€“ 17.7M Monthly Listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, Grammy Award winner Temilade Openiyi professionally known as Tems, is fourth among Nigerian artistes with 17.7 monthly listeners.

Generally, Tems has achieved international superstardom since her standout performance on Wizkidโ€™s 2020 hit Essence. She has amassed over 2.5 billion Spotify streams, with Wait For U, her Grammy-winning collaboration with Future and Drake, leading the pack with over 800 million streams. Her song, Free Mind has 188Million streams on Spotify.

 

Wizkid โ€“ 11.9M Monthly Listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, Grammy Award winner Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as Wizkid is fifth among Nigerian artistes with 11.9million monthly listeners.

Generally, Wizkid leads as Nigeriaโ€™s top artist on Spotify, nearing an impressive 7 billion streams, just 26 million shy. His dominance is largely attributed to his feature on Drakeโ€™s 2015 smash hit One Dance, which has amassed 3.212 billion streams. Wizkid biggest song on Spotify is Essence off the Album Made In Lagos where he features Tems on the track.

Omah lay โ€“ 9.4M monthly listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, popular Nigerian singer Stanley Omah Didia better known as Omah Lay is the sixth among Nigerian artistes with 9.4 million monthly listeners.

Generally, Omah Lay, a sensational talent, has cemented his place as a musical force with chart-topping hits that have earned him over 1.5 billion Spotify streams. His hit single Soso leads the pack with 174 million streams.

Ckay โ€“ 8.5M monthly listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, popular Nigerian singer Chukwuka Chukwuma Ekweani better known as Ckay is the seventh among Nigerian artistes with 8.5 million monthly listeners.

CKay made African history with his viral hit Love Nwantiti, which has garnered 857 million streams, significantly contributing to his total of over 2.2 billion Spotify streams.

 

Davido โ€“ 8.3M Monthly Listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, superstar Afroebats sensation David Adeleke professionally known as Davido is the eight among Nigerian artistes with 8.3 million monthly listeners.

Davido recently surpassed 2 billion Spotify streams, driven by the success of his Grammy-nominated hit Unavailable featuring Musa Keys, which has exceeded 159 million streams.

Fireboy DML โ€“ 7.5M Monthly Listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, famous Nigerian singer Adedamola Oyinlola Adefolahan better known as Fireboy DML is the number 9 among Nigerian artistes with 7.5 million monthly listeners.

Fireboy made global waves with his hit single Peru, whose remix featuring British superstar Ed Sheeran has surpassed 318 million Spotify streams.

Asake โ€“ 7.3M Monthly Listeners

According to the latest data released by Spotify, Grammy nominated Nigerian artiste Ahmed Ololade better known as Asake is the number 10 among Nigerian artistes with 7.3 million monthly listeners.

Asake has had a remarkable run since breaking into the mainstream in 2022, delivering a string of hit singles. His dominance is evident in the 1.2 billion streams he has accumulated over the past three years.

Bandana, his collaboration with Fireboy, stands as his biggest hit on Spotify, with 121 million streams.
