Renowned Nigerian actor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has officially unveiled the KAP Film Village and Resort — a groundbreaking blend of culture, cinema, and tourism nestled in the tranquil town of Igbojaye, Komu, in Itesiwaju Local Government Area, Oyo State.
Occupying more than 60 acres of untouched land, the facility doubles as a luxurious resort and a state-of-the-art film production hub. It has already served as the filming location for major Netflix titles like Aníkúlápó and Ijogbon, solidifying its place at the forefront of Nigeria’s burgeoning film industry.
During the launch, Afolayan shared the inspiration behind the project, highlighting its mission to preserve indigenous narratives while playing a vital role in national development.
“This isn’t just a film location — it’s a destination,” he said. “The KAP Film Village was created to build the country by showcasing creativity driven by purpose and vision.”
The resort features culturally inspired lodges such as Ire, Ayanladun, and Adelove, each designed to honor Yoruba heritage. Guests can indulge in activities like hiking, mountain climbing, and guided tours of authentic film sets. The tranquil surroundings, complete with farm animals and lush greenery, provide a peaceful retreat from the bustle of city life.
The facility has garnered attention from key figures in both the entertainment industry and government. Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, commended the project during her visit, calling it a remarkable achievement with the potential to become a leading cultural and tourism destination in Nigeria.
Veteran Nollywood actors such as Jide Kosoko and Femi Adebayo have also praised the initiative, calling it a significant milestone for the industry.
Despite the success, Afolayan highlighted ongoing challenges such as unreliable electricity and poor road infrastructure.
“We’ve made it this far with little government input, but moving forward, we’ll need support — particularly with roads and electricity,” he said.
With the creation of the KAP Film Village, Kunle Afolayan has not only broadened the scope of Nigerian filmmaking but has also established a cultural sanctuary that celebrates and elevates the nation’s creative talents.
