BBNaija 2019 winner Mercy Eke is one of the trending conversations online following her recent outcry about having over N100 million in her Heritage Bank account.
Mercy Eke’s reaction comes after news that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) revoked the operating license of Heritage Bank, which is now in the process of liquidation by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC). This decision was made due to the bank’s failure to improve its financial performance, posing a threat to financial stability.
Taking to her page on the popular microblogging platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Mercy Eke expressed her frustration, revealing that she has over N100 million in the now-defunct Heritage Bank. She further disclosed that they are only willing to give her N5 million of her total funds.
An X user identified as @blessing_dudu wrote; “Omg Lambo hope you don’t have acct with them 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺”
Responding Mercy Eke said; “I do… and have above 100m with them .”
Another X user identified as @okkymoney said; “Queen mercyeke CBN said they will attend to people with 5M or lower first before they attend to people with multiple millions but it may take time.”
Mercy Eke responded; “That’s the problem, how can the pay 5m from someone’s millions ?”
@love_ibanga said; “What is your account manager saying? This is serious o😩.”
Mercy Eke said; “She lured me into fixing my money, knowing fully well there’s been issues with the bank … I don’t have words for her, I blame myself .”
@adekanmbi_seun tweeted; “Why did you open an account with them in the first place. Opay, kuda, palmpay and co are the same.”
Mercy Eke reacted; “That was the bank that sponsored Bbn during my set, for them to pay our money we were advised to open an account with them… stupid me went ahead and funded the account … don’t worry I’m full of regrets right now.”
She added; “I really don’t no how to react about this … I have been hoping for the best .. thinking there’s a way out…. #heritagebank.”
“May God help me💔.”
