Aminat Omowunmi, the wife of actor and producer Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, opened up about their marriage and how she dealt with skeptics.
Speaking on Bimpe Akintunde’s chat show Iriri Mi, Aminat revealed that she and Itele have been together for nearly a decade, having met during his challenging early days in the acting industry.
She praised Itele’s remarkable success, attributing it to God’s grace, and emphasized the importance of staying grounded and avoiding immoral behavior, reminding him of the consequences of straying from the right path.

During a chat with Bimpe Akintunde on her talk show Iriri Mi, Aminat revealed that her relationship with Itele has lasted nearly a decade, starting during his early struggles in the acting industry.
Aminat praised Itele’s deep reverence for God, which she believes keeps him grounded and prevents him from engaging in dishonest actions. She shared that whenever he considers making a poor decision, the fear of divine consequences encourages him to think twice.
Additionally, Aminat addressed the difficulties she encountered during the initial stages of their relationship, particularly due to Itele’s frequent travels for film shoots.
Over time, she adapted to this lifestyle and even expressed a desire for him to travel more often.
She also commented on the attention Itele garners from female admirers, stating that she chooses to overlook it in order to maintain his peace of mind.
Aminat reminisced about how her friends would tease her regarding Itele’s old vehicle during the early days of their courtship, especially since she was considered a popular figure during her university years.
She acknowledged that the initial phase of their relationship posed challenges, particularly due to his frequent travels. However, over time, she adapted to this aspect of their life and now finds herself wishing he would travel even more.
“It’s been almost 10 years since we have been together. It is by the grace of God, I keep my husband from being deceitful. Ibrahim is the kind of person who has a fear of God. So he doesn’t get involved in scamming girls.
“When I met Itele, things weren’t rosy for him. Even with that, I stood by his side because I love him, and though I always said I wouldn’t marry a celebrity, I saw his attitude and behavior and saw he has a fear of God. If he wants to do something and remembers God would be angry with him for doing such, he would put a stop to it.
“When we first started dating, it was difficult for me with his constant travelling for movie locations, and we would fight over it, but with time, I got used to it. I just wish he would leave.
“To give him peace of mind, I overlook his relationship with some of his female fans.“I was very pompous in school, and my friends would laugh at me because of the car he was always using to pick me up, but I didn’t bother because I knew where I was going to”.
