Nigerian singer and songwriter Akinmayokun Awodumila, popularly known as Mr May D, has claimed that he was bigger than award-winning musicians Wizkid and Davido.

It’s worth noting that May D rose to prominence with the release of his first single “Soundtrack” through Square Records. He founded his own record label Confam Entertainment in 2012. His songs like “Ile Ijo and “Sound Man” were very popular, and he collaborated with some of the biggest names in the industry at the time.

Later that year, he featured on Psquare`s Invasion Album, collaborating on ‘Chop My Money’ which also featured Akon on the remix and on ‘Do as I Do’ which also had Tiwa Savage on it.

In a recent interview with the honest brunch podcast, May D made a bold claim stating that he was more popular and has viral songs that Wizkid and Davido.

In his words, “Then, it was just I, Wizkid and Davido. I was even bigger than the both of them. My song ‘Soundtrack’ was bigger than Wizkid’s Holla at your boy.

Wizkid and Davido have become global superstars, with massive followings and numerous hit songs. They have dominated the Nigerian music scene for over a decade.

May D’s assertion about being the bigger artiste sparked debates online as social media users shared their thoughts.
