Veteran Yoruba film actor Ebun Oloyede better known by his stage as Olaiya Igwe, has talked candidly about one of his greatest life regrets, which is related to an incident involving gospel singer Tope Alabi. The actor disclosed in an open chat on the Kasnastysugar1 YouTube channel that he had refused to let Alabi use his automobile for her wedding, a choice that has plagued him ever since.
Oloyede shared his remorse over the incident, stating, “One of my biggest regrets in life is that I refused to borrow Tope Alabi my car for her wedding. Every time I see Tope Alabi, I always apologize to her because I know what I did was wrong.”
The actor’s decision to withhold his car from Alabi was driven by his fear that it might be stolen by armed robbers during the wedding festivities. However, in a cruel twist of fate, Oloyede himself became a victim of car theft just a week after denying Alabi’s request.
Recounting the harrowing experience, Oloyede revealed that he was traveling to Ibadan with his wife and children when they were accosted by armed gunmen. The assailants brutally beat his wife and forced his children out of the vehicle before taking the actor to a prayer ground.
“I was travelling to Ibadan with my wife and children, and the gunmen beat my wife and asked my children to come down from the car,” Oloyede shared, his voice filled with emotion. “I was taken to a prayer ground, and they started asking me if I had enough fuel in the car, and they took the car away from there.”
