The well-known Nollywood actress Funke Akindele talked candidly about her rebellious upbringing and the passion that eventually defined her filmmaking career in an interview that was posted on House 21 TV’s official YouTube page.
During an engaging conversation with musician Falz, she reminisced about her defiance towards her father’s wishes for her future.
“I was very rebellious when I was younger; it was my mother who encouraged me to be a successful actress,” Akindele shared. Her father had envisioned a different path for his daughter—one as a lawyer—but she firmly rejected that notion to pursue acting instead. “My dad wanted me to be a lawyer, but I refused and I chose to be an actress,” she noted.
Despite the challenges posed by her choice, including familial pressures and societal expectations, Akindele found solace in her passion for film.
