Late Nigerian Islamic singer, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso has been laid to rest today, September 24 shortly after her death.
Intelregion earlier reported that the prolific singer’s death was taken to social media by Ilorin-based cleric Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah.
According to Punch Newspaper, the Solatul Janazzah (Prayer for the Dead) was earlier observed for the singer in Ojota, Lagos State on Tuesday.
However, the final prayer and burial took place in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State at noon and video capturing the funeral ceremony stirred emotions among social media users.
In the video, people mostly family and friends were seen surrounding the singer’s graveyard, mourning their loss.
Brother to the deceased, Jubril Gawat, who is a Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu quoted a Quran verse on his X account on Tuesday morning.
His post read, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156.
