Born in 1966 in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Farooq Oreagba recently became the toast of social media after clips of him at the 2024 Ojude Oba Day celebration went viral.

His unique fashion sense, composure, and panache have made him one of the biggest highlights of the 2024 Ojude Oba Day celebration.

Born into the Oreagba Akeula family as Farooq Olatunbosun Oreagba, he shares a distant relationship with the Balogun Kuku family.

His educational life:

Oreagba began his educational journey in his hometown at Ijebu-Ode Grammar School before continuing to Mayflower School and Ikenne, both located in Ogun State, for his secondary education.

After completing his secondary education at Mayflower School, Oreagba obtained a finance degree from Oxford University in London.

He graduated with distinction from Oxford before pursuing his master’s degree at the University of East London, and later earned another degree in Business Management from Coventry University.

Oreagba has also acquired numerous certifications from various educational institutions both locally and internationally.

Career and achievements:

Over the past four decades, Oreagba has amassed experience in the financial sector both in Nigeria and internationally.

He previously served as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Stock Exchange and Securities. Oreagba stepped down from his role at the NSE due to his battle with bone and skin cancer. Currently, he holds the position of Managing Director at NG Clearing Limited, having been appointed in September 2023.

This appointment marked his return to the financial sector nearly six years after his health-related hiatus. Additionally, Oreagba holds a diploma in executive leadership from the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University.

Life after surviving cancer:

In 2014, Oreagba received a diagnosis of osteosarcoma and carcinoma, which translate to bone and skin cancer respectively. Since then, his perspective on life has undergone a profound transformation. The esteemed financial expert, who recently celebrated his 58th birthday, got his first tattoo after turning 50.

Earlier videos depict Oreagba leading a pristine lifestyle without tattoos, alcohol, or smoking. However, his current lifestyle reflects a departure from this earlier image. He now aims to make the most of every moment he has left on earth.
