Nigerian content creator and singer Lawal Michael Nasiru Bolaji, better known as Nasboi, has berated Nigerians using 2baba and Annie Idibia’s ongoing marital crisis as a yardstick for marriages.
Taking to the micro-blogging platform Twitter, now known as X, he noted how when a celebrity divorces, netizens begin to say marriage isn’t for them, but they forget their parents, who have been married for over 3 decades.
Nasboi admonished the public to stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage, as he noted how it is a choice to marry or not.
“1 celebrity divorce, then you begin to say this thing called marriage is not for me. Buh, you forget your parents, who have been married for over 30-something years. Stop using celebrity marriages to define marriage. If you like no marry na you sabi”.
On Sunday evening, 2baba shocked many when he announced his separation from wife of over a decade, Annie Idibia, via his Instagram page. He revealed that he and Annie have been separated for a while and are on the verge of divorce, and promised to grant a press release to share his side of the story.
The singer, in a follow-up post, claimed that his account was hacked and the post wasn’t true. Surprisingly, he made another U-turn as he shared videos of himself admitting to their crashed marriage.
Since the divorce announcement, many celebrities have been weighing into it. Taking the lead, edia personality, Toke Makinwa expressed disappointment in his behavior as she vowed to stand by Annie.
