Chioma Onuabuchi, sister of Nigerian singer Patoranking and her husband, George Onuabuchi, have been buried in their hometown, Uburu located in Ebonyi State amid tears and grief, following a fatal gas explosion that claimed their lives in their Abakaliki home.
Recall that the couple are victims of the explosion at their home, which occurred on the day of their son’s birthday, just months after their housewarming ceremony in August 2024.
A neighbor recounted the explosion, stating, “It happened on my street. We only heard the blast in the afternoon. When we rushed to the scene, smoke was billowing from the new building. All the electronics were destroyed, and the ceiling, doors, windows, and glass were severely damaged.
Chioma tragically succumbed to her injuries first, passing away on August 31st, while her husband sadly followed on September 11th.
The couple left behind a three-year-old son, who fortunately was with his grandmother at the time of the incident. The burial of Chioma and George took place on Sunday, November 24, 2024.
Following their funeral ceremony, Patoranking took to his Instagram story to share an emotional post, reflecting on the death of his sister and brother in-law. Sharing an emoji of a white bird, he wrote, “Only heaven knows.”
