An elderly woman has stolen the spotlight at the ongoing Nationwide protest #Endbadgovernance which started today, Thursday August 1st.

Nigerians in various cities and states have taken to the streets with bold placards, protesting the hardships in the country, including hunger and fuel price hikes, among other issues.

However, the woman was spotted in the street of Kudirat Abiola Way, Ikeja, Lagos. While many hold the banner, she proudly took an empty pot along with her.

Photos capture the woman crying and wailing as she holds her empty pot, conveying the message of the hunger affecting the country.

The post triggered massive reactions as social media users shared their thoughts via comment section. Some reactions are shown below:

@Ayomiepat said, “We need more of her type outside, it’s not the youth’s fight this time around. Like that man said “Our demand is on the faces of the hungry Nigerians” . They should all come outside”.

@_coincoder said, “We need more parents to join the protest. If it’s only youths they can easily label it as something else. But when mothers are out on the streets, and fathers behind them, it’s a complete movement. A movement by the people and for the people”.

@i_am_dagos said, “These are the real protesters”.

@drfynrekins said, “Nigerians don’t deserve such maltreatment. If a leader is clueless & incompetent, then he has to leave the stage for someone else or rise up and solve problems.”

@Emmanuel_extra said, “Most of the people protesting are not even on Twitter. This woman didn’t need any Twitter space to convince her to protest. Hunger brought her out!”

@oluwafemi6693 said, “They said they had fill the pot.. Which was half way filled.. But look.. take a look. At how hollow and deep. The pot which ones could. Boast of some grains of rice.. Empty Empty Empty!!!!!!”
