USA president Donald Trump is one of the trending conversations online following his reaction after a Bishop urges him to have mercy on Immigrant and LGBTQ+ people.
Recall that on January 20th 2025, Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States of America in Washington DC. Note that this will be the second time Donald Trump will be the president of USA.
However, following his inauguration, Donald Trump raises eyebrows online as he disclosed that they are only two genders in the United States of America, mainly male and female stressing that there is no room for LGBTQ+.
Moving on, Donald Trump asserted announces end of birthright citizenship for children born in the USA by illegal immigrants as all these immigrants will be sent away from the USA.
Reacting to the development, a bishop in the USA identified as Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde while Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump among others were present urges the USA president to have mercy on these immigrants and LGBTQ+ people.
In her words; “Mr president, millions have put their trust in you and as you told the nation yesterday, you have felt the providential hand of a loving God. In the name of our God, I ask you, to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. They are gay, lesbian and transgender children in democratic, republican and independent families, some who fear for their lives.”
Moving on, the bishop while speaking about the immigrants and LGTBQ+ people said that they are the one who picks their crops, clean office building in the USA, labour in poultry farms and meat packing plants was dishes after eating in the restaurants and even work night shifts in hospitals.
The bishop stressed that most of these immigrants may not be citizens or have proper documentation but vast majority of them are not criminals, they pay taxes and are good neighbours.
The Bishop added; “And the people, the people who pick our crops, clean our offices building, who labour in poultry farms and meat packing plants, who wash the dishes aftr we eat in restaurants, and work in night shifts in hospitals, they may not be citizens or have proper documentation, but the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals, they pay taxes and are good neighbours.”
Speaking further, the bishop noted that most immigrants left their country as a result of war zones and persecution
in their own lands to find comfort in the USA.
The bishop further added; “In our communities who children fear that their parent will be taken awa and that you help those who are fleeing war zones and persecution in their own lands to find compassion wlecome here.”
The bishoped concluded on the need to have mercy on strangers by saying that “Our God teaches us that we are to be merciful to the stranger for we were all once strangers in this land.”
Meanwhile, while the Bishop was talking, Donald Trump was expressing his utmost displeasure as his body language really shows that he is not buying all what the bishop was talking about.
