Awele Irene Itegbe, a female student of University of Lagos (UNILAG), has caused whirlwind of reactions online over her fashion choice on her final year costume day.
Awele, who is a social media influencer, took to the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter) as she recreated viral photo of controversial crossdresser Bobrisky when he was arrested by the Economic Financial Commission Crime (EFCC).
Recall that Bobrisky was arrested and incarcerated by the EFCC some months ago over naira mutilation after which he pleaded guilty and bagged six months in jail. However, a mugshot showing the crossdresser holding a placard detailing his crimes.
Nevertheless, the final year student seems inspired by Bobrisky’s viral mugshot as she redeveloped it as her preferred costume outfits. She shared two photos; one showing the original picture of Bobrisky’s close-up head shot while the other showed Awele’s recreated photos.
While Bobrisky’s offence was ‘naira mutilation’, Irene’s was ‘alleged BBL’. While the crossdresser’s date of arrest was 4th April, 2024, the UNILAG student’s was 10th July, 2024.
The student clarified her reasons for making a few difference in her mugshot by using EFEC, instead of EFCC. “Efec because quite frankly I’m not ready to do #freeawele😭,” she captioned the post.
