Nollywood veteran Chiwetalu Agu has expressed deep anguish over a distressing video showcasing the dire conditions of Okoritak village in Ibeno Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.

The footage, shared by popular skitmaker Mark Angel during a recent humanitarian visit, revealed the community’s struggle for basic survival resources.

Residents disclosed that their only source of water is an oil-contaminated well, leaving many in disbelief at the severity of their plight.

 

The residents revealed that the toxic water has severely impacted their health, causing numerous debilitating diseases over the years.

This grim reality is further exacerbated by the lack of basic infrastructure, including the absence of a proper school for their children.

In response to this shocking discovery, Chiwetalu Agu took to social media, voicing his profound sorrow and frustration over the dire situation.

Chiwetalu Agu shared that the video moved him to tears as it revealed the depth of suffering endured by the people of Okoritak village.

The revered actor criticized the Nigerian government for failing to provide basic amenities, emphasizing that such necessities are fundamental rights. He urged leaders to rise above corruption and fulfill their responsibilities to the citizens.

Chiwetalu also appealed to compassionate Nigerians, calling on well-meaning individuals to come together and support the struggling community.
