Renowned Nigerian cleric Prophet Ebuka Obi, founder of Zion Ministry, has addressed the controversy surrounding a viral video featuring a woman who allegedly gave a false testimony at his church.
Ebuka Obi has found himself in center of controversy after a video surfaced online showing a woman at Zion Ministry testifying before the congregation. She revealed how she miraculously went from having N300,000 worth of goods in her shop to acquiring a N500,000,000 mansion in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
However, another video showed the moment the lady was being interrogated and admitted everything she said was staged. It appeared that she is Enugu-based not Lagos. In the footage, voices can be heard confronting her over the false claim, sparking doubts about the authenticity of testimonies shared in churches.
In response to the controversy, Prophet Ebuka Obi addressed the issue on social media, stating that his ministry does not promote fake testimonies or deceit.
Prophet Ebuka Obi stated that Zion Ministry operates with a spirit that is “too real to be fake” and emphasized that he himself is genuine, having dedicated his life to Christ. He explained that on Sundays and Wednesdays, around 50 people share testimonies in the ministry.
After his sermon on the 4th, he had cautioned the moderator to be careful. Regarding the woman who testified, he admitted that he was on the altar at the time, felt joyful about her testimony, and even used it as a prayer point for the congregation.
He revealed that two Zion media members later sent him a video indicating that the woman was not the actual owner of the house. He noted that any controversy involving him quickly becomes national news, which he believes is proof of Zion Ministry’s prominence.
Initially, he considered blaming the moderators but acknowledged that some pastors have made efforts to bring him down. He questioned how they could have doubted the woman’s claim, given that she had shared a video as evidence of ownership.
However, he assured that the ministry would investigate the situation thoroughly. If it turns out that she truly does not own the house, he stated that they would take action to ensure she faces the consequences.
He said, “There is something about Zion ministry, the spirit that is working here, it’s too real to be fake. Prophet Ebuka, I’m too real to fake. I’ve given everything up for the sake of Christ. On Sundays and Wednesdays, there are about 50 people that testified. After the message on 4th, I told the moderator to be careful, The lady that testified, I was on the altar. I was so happy and even used it to pray for the congregation. Two Zion medias sent the video to me that she was not the owner of the house.”
“Do you know one thing that make me know Zion ministry is big, anything that happened to Ebuka Obi, will turn into national news. I wanted to blame the moderators because some pastors have vowed to bring Ebuka Obi down. How can we doubt her, she shared video showing the evidence that she is the owner of the house. We will investigate the situation. If truly she’s not the owner of the house, we will follow her to make sure that she suffers.”
