Toke Makinwa recently shared a vote of thanks on her Instagram story that may throw hopeful romantics into a fit storm.
The stunning media personality took to Instagram to thank her friend ‘Farouk’ for attending her birthday thanksgiving ceremony, and here’s what she wrote;
”My Nigga. My friend. My ride and ride
We’ve been through so much and over the years you’ve shown me how important showing up for your friend is. Ore mi, Faroukkk omo le mo nu”
Toke Makinwa referred to Farouk as her friend, which further doused a bucket of cold water on the heads of Nigerians assuming that he is her husband.
Recall that during her birthday thanksgiving ceremony, pictures and rumors flew around, insinuating that she was getting married to Farouk, and the birthday thanksgiving was just a ruse.
However, Toke Makinwa never confirmed those rumors, and her friend Ms Dsf vehemently denied them, stating that Toke Makinwa was indeed not married.
Upon confirmation that Toke Makinwa wasn’t getting married, netizens refused to retract the congratulatory messages they had sent to her earlier.
Toke Makinwa also made a post later on, sharing that her parents had received loads of phone calls from people, following the rumors that she was getting married.
As of now, Toke Makinwa is still single, at least to the eyes of the public, since she hasn’t publicly linked herself with any man romantically.
That aspect of her life has been a bit hush hush, and the only time Toke Makinwa has shared her personal experience with marriage was with regards to her former marriage.
She had written an entire book about her failed marriage and eventual divorce. Her ex-husband sued her for defamation in the process.
Regardless of the fact that she had a failed marriage, Toke Makinwa has often shared that she isn’t giving up on love, and she has even identified herself as a hopeless romantic.
