Popular American singer and actress Selena Gomez in a recent interview opens up about her private life as she finally reveals why she cannot have her own children.

In an interview with Vanity Fair published on Monday, she disclosed that her ongoing health issues make it dangerous for her to carry her own children should she plan to have them.

Gomez, who was diagnosed with lupus in 2013 and underwent a kidney transplant in 2017, noted that she had never “said this” publicly before. Lupus is an autoimmune disease, meaning the immune system attacks the body, leading to various complications, including organ damage.

The actress mentioned that despite this challenge, she still plans to have children and is grateful for the medical alternatives available to her.

Selena Gomez said: “I unfortunately … have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while.

“It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”
