In a recent statement, Michael Anugwa, the Deputy Controller of Kirikiri Prison, explained the decision to separate Nigerian internet personality and crossdresser Bobrisky from the general prison population. Due to Bobrisky’s feminine appearance, he was placed in a special holding area for his protection.
Anugwa expressed concerns that placing Bobrisky in the general male population, which includes many hardened criminals, could have exposed him to the risk of rape or even death.
He emphasized that the prison houses dangerous convicts, including those serving time for violent crimes, sexual assault, and sodomy, making it crucial for officials to prioritize Bobrisky’s safety.
The Deputy Controller noted that Bobrisky’s feminine features could have made him especially vulnerable in a prison environment where many inmates are known for sexual aggression.
This heightened risk was a key factor in the decision to keep him separated from the general prison population to ensure his safety.
Michael Anugwa further emphasized that if measures hadn’t been taken to protect Bobrisky, the public would have criticized them for exposing the crossdresser to danger. This unfolded today, Monday, September 30th, 2024, in the House of Representatives, where Verydarkman, Bobrisky, the EFCC, and NCoS officials were summoned.
Recall that Verydarkman had earlier accused the EFCC of accepting a N15 million bribe from Bobrisky to remove money laundering charges from his case. He also claimed that the NCoS provided Bobrisky with a special apartment rather than requiring him to serve his jail term in the general prison population.
