Papa Ajasco is one of the longest running television programs in Nigeria and from the production house of Wale Adenuga Productions. The show has seen so many of Nigeria’s biggest names walk through its doors from Patience Ozokwor to Jide Kosoko, and now the show is back again with a new twist: Papa Ajasco is now Gen Z 😂

The concept already is so funny to me, and I don’t know how it is going to work, but according to Wale Adenuga Jr, the show will be called Papa Ajasco & Company: Gen Z Papi and will begin airing on October 15, 2024. He is very confident in what they’ve made and in a new statement is explaining why they’ve chosen to make Papa Ajasco to be Gen Z. Here’s what they said.

Speaking about his decision to make Papa Ajasco to be Gen Z, Wale Adenuga Jr explained saying:

WALE ADENUGA JR: Since the TV series started airing across Nigeria in 1997, the programme has amassed a very large viewership spanning several generations. As the longest-running TV comedy in Nigeria, we have remained popular by always keeping our storylines and production styles fresh and relevant to our viewers of different ages, especially the youth who form the majority of our viewership. This new production has already received amazing positive feedback from a sample audience, and we are excited to share it with the world.

This new version of the comedy series will follow the titular character— Papa Ajasco, aka Gen Z Papi, as he rises to superstardom as a successful afrobeats musician while engaged in rivalry with another musician— Emperor Agu. It also stars the much-loved main characters – Papa Ajasco, Pa James, Mama Ajasco, Boy Alinco, and Miss Pepeiye, as well as several new supporting characters played by Jude Chukwuka, Jide Kosoko, Fatai Oodua (Lalude), Francis Odega, Yomi Fash-Lanso, Jaiye Kuti, Nobert Young, Shade Ola (Iyalegba), Shirley Igwe, Oluchi Amajuoyi, and others.
