Popular Nigerian singer and songwriter, Deborah Oluwaseyi Joshua, professionally known as Seyi Shay has cleared the air about the ownership of hit song, ‘One dance’, a music collaboration between Canadian rapper Drake and Afrobeat musician Wizkid
‘One dance’, released in 2016, is one of Drake’s most successful songs. Featuring Wizkid and British singer Kyla, the track topped the charts in multiple countries, including the US Billboard Hot 100.
While it is widely believed that Drake wrote all of his songs, Seyi Shay confirmed that the global hit “One Dance” by Drake was originally written by Nigerian superstar Wizkid.
Seyi Shay, shared this surprising piece of information during an interview with Jamaican-American podcaster, DJ Akademiks.
In her words, “The same thing that’s going on in Africa right naw. One Dance is actually Wizkid song. It is not Drake song. I don’t know if I can talk about it naw. It is Wizkid song. He wrote it as an Afrobeat. Wizkid brought it. Legendary beats and some other Nigerian producers.
