A young Nigerian lady identifed as Joy Ahiakwo captures the attention of many social media users following her new post where she disclosed how she achieved a CGPA of 4.98/5.00 in Industrial Chemistry from Caleb University and graduated as the Best Graduating Student.
In the post she posted on her official LinkedIn page which has generated thousands of impression, the young lady disclosed the six steps she took for her to emerge as the valedictorian of her set.
Speaking further, the first class graduate of Industrial Chemistry from Caleb University stressed that achieving such a milestone was not about one specific thing he did as it was about a combination of consistent habits, discipline and grace.
Joy Ahiakwo while listing six steps she takes to achieve such a feat listed; Attending all her classes, Consistent, displined studying,Always asking questions, Taking everything seriously, Prioritizing her relationship with God and finally staying focused on her goal. She further went ahead to explain all the six steps mentioned above.
She wrote; “How I achieved a 4.98/5.0 CGPA and graduated as the Best Graduating Student.

Achieving this milestone wasn’t about one specific thing I did – it was a combination of consistent habits, discipline, and grace. Here’s what worked for me:

1. Attending all my classes: I made it a priority to attend all my classes – and arrive early. Hearing my lecturers explain concepts firsthand made studying later much easier. Instead of struggling to grasp new information, I was simply reinforcing what I had already learned in class.
2. Consistent, disciplined studying: I never let my notes pile up. Every night, I studied for at least two hours, reviewing my jottings, PDFs, textbooks, and online resources. Google and ChatGPT became my best friends. I didn’t start taking reading breaks until my second semester in 300 level, but by then, I had already built a solid habit of consistent studying. Because of this, I never had to cram for tests or exams – I was always well-prepared.

3. Always asking questions: If I didn’t understand something, I asked – always. My goal was to leave class with at least 80% clarity on the topic rather than promising myself I’d “figure it out later.” Building strong relationships with my lecturers also made it easier to seek clarifications.

4. Taking everything seriously: I approached tests, assignments, and projects with the same intensity as exams, putting in equal effort and study time. I didn’t just aim for A’s – I aimed for high A’s (80+). These small but consistent efforts added up, ensuring my grades remained excellent throughout.
5. Prioritizing my relationship with God: Beyond academics, my faith played a huge role. Many times, I felt led to study specific topics, only for them to appear in exams. I also experienced divine protection – no serious illnesses, missing results, or major issues throughout my three years at Caleb University. I consistently prayed that the problems other students experienced wouldn’t be mine, and God truly came through for me.

6. Staying focused on my goal: I always reminded myself that I was in school for academics first. I worked hard to minimize distractions – whether from social life or relationships. That said, I still enjoyed a balanced life. Those who know me can attest that my social life is just as vibrant as my academic and spiritual life.

This journey wasn’t easy, but it was worth it and I’m just grateful to have it be done with now. To anyone currently in school: discipline, consistency, and faith can take you further than you imagine.”
