The Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad Nsukka Sector police officers have detained a “masquerade,” who reported flogged a female nurse.
The masquerade also known as Oriokpa, was seen on camera abusing a female nurse physically at Ugwuoye Junction in Nsukka.

It was later discovered that the man wearing the masquerade mask was 22-year-old Ugwuoke Ebube “m” of Enugu Road, Nsukka.
According to a statement issued by DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the suspect may have been a member of a group of masked individuals who attacked a female nurse on a motorcycle like the one shown in a widely shared video in April 2024.
On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, he was arraigned before the Nsukka Magistrate judge of Enugu State, Nigeria; however, the judge granted him bail.
Ndukwe stated that the state’s commissioner of police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, condemned the incident and issued a warning to anyone planning to carry out such violent crimes against their fellow residents by disguising themselves as cultural masquerades: stop right away.
He emphasized that, as in this instance, the Command will not hold back from holding anyone found wanting to bring them to justice.
