Veteran actor Segun Arinze has opened up on how his acting career halted and why he decided to bow out of acting.
In a recent interview, media personality Chude Jideonwo chatted with Nollywood actor Segun Arinze on his experience as an actor.
Arinze discussed his success in the Nollywood film Silent Night (1996), which helped him become well-known for his depiction of Black Arrow.
But he also talked about how portraying him as a bad guy in movies broke his mental health and made him give up acting.
“There was a time I took a hiatus from acting when people were casting in that mold of bad boy, bad boy and it began to affect my psyche and all that,” Arinze said.
He also spoke to Chude for the first about his divorce from the popular actress, Anne Njemanze. “I stayed out of marriage after the first one collapsed. I stayed out for like 12 years before I remarried,” he said.
Segun Arinze never talks about his personal life and so I am grateful that he shared these truths with me.
He talks about navigating the very public divorce with his fellow actor wife, how he handled the public attention and the years he spent in tearful prayer to God asking… pic.twitter.com/EwKSlgdNqf
