Award-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, professionally known as Wizkid, recently took to social media to address developments in the Nigerian music and cryptocurrency scene.

Wizkid’s comments came after his industry counterpart, Davido, made headlines with his foray into the crypto world, particularly through the launch of his exclusive meme coin, $DAVIDO.

On Wednesday night, May 29th, 2024, Davido made waves among his fans and the crypto community with the introduction of $DAVIDO. The memecoin’s rapid ascent saw it reach a $10 million market capitalization within just four hours of its launch. This move marked Davido’s venture into the digital asset space, showcasing the increasing intersection between music personalities and cryptocurrency.

However, amidst the excitement surrounding Davido’s crypto debut, Wizkid’s social media post captured attention as he addressed a recent development involving Davido’s partnership with Solana, a prominent blockchain platform. Wizkid’s post highlighted a swift end to Davido’s partnership with Solana, which reportedly led to a significant dip in valuation within 24 hours.

Wizkid’s authoritative voice in the music industry adds weight to his observations about Davido’s venture into crypto and the subsequent impact on his partnership with Solana. This interaction exemplifies the ongoing evolution and influence of digital assets within the entertainment landscape, where artists like Davido navigate new avenues for engagement and revenue generation.

As the Nigerian music scene continues to intersect with emerging technologies like blockchain and cryptocurrency, the actions and statements of leading artists like Wizkid and Davido serve as notable markers of this dynamic landscape’s evolution.

Davido responded by saying; “The King of SOL is here ! $DAVIDO.”

The excitement was short-lived. By Thursday morning, $Davido’s valuation had dipped 90 and per DEX screener, the coin’s liquidity was $291,000 at the time of this report.

This isn’t the singer’s initial venture into the world of cryptocurrency. In November 2021, he introduced $echoke on the Binance Smart Chain, aiming to “offer access to giveaways, NFTs, festivals, exclusive merchandise, and other entertainment, media, and hospitality benefits.” However, the short-lived project quickly faded into obscurity.

Moreover, he endorsed Racksterli, a Ponzi scheme accused of defrauding users of ₦1 billion, on YouTube. This sparked criticism and calls for a more responsible utilization of his celebrity influence.

Following this development that has make traders to speculate scam as the valuation dips in 24 hours after Davido influence makes many to invest, Wizkid took to his verified Twitter handle to react.

Wizkid drags the living daylight out of Davido as he refers to him as fool stressing that the singer needs to lear how to work smart.

Wizkid tweeted; “Work smart make u no go Dey hustle like fool ❤️ 🦅.”

The tweet by Wizkid has gone viral online and by extension the singer is one of the trending conversation on popular microblogging platform X formerly called Twitter.
